The litter’s sire and dam
Why I chose Raini Dakota Maly Bysterec as the sire?
Choosing a male is very difficult for me. I always want not just to have a litter of puppies, but for that litter to be the most useful contribution to the development of the breed.
I do not idealize any dogs, including my bitches, I understand their minuses and foults. Therefore, one of the aspects of a good litter is for the male to strengthen the weaknesses of the female, and for the female to compensate for what the male lacks.
Dakota has a very nice anatomy – great angles, a nice and straight croup, strong and not too long back. A perfectly shaped chest. Good colored eyes. The fur has a strong pigment, which we often lack in CSW. Maintaining good anatomy is a strong step in breed development.
Character. I was very impressed with Dakota’s temperament. I knew he is a social dog, but I was surprise! Although he is a 4-year-old dog, after I meet him, I asked the owner if Dakota are really 2 years old. Active, sociable, fearless, going “through walls” with his energy. A particularly stable male that does not show any aggression to anyone.
Movement. I try to keep it light in wolfdogs. It is important for me that the dog “fly”, and the step is barely audible, the movement is elegant. Therefore, it is very important not to enlarge and not to hevyer the breed. I don’t give in to fashion, how beautiful is a “biig wooolf”. Yes, there is no maximum height in our breed standard, so we can conditionally breed large dogs. However, it is very difficult to maintain lightness in a large dog.
It is not without reason that our breed includes SVP running exams – 40km, 70km, and 100km running in trot near the bike (at a speed of about 12km/h).
Dakota is a great, medium-sized, lightweight male who runs SVP, climbs mountains and runs marathons with his owner without any problems.
Health. I can’t go into too much detail about male health tests – all health tests are ideal. However, looking deeper, there is another important aspect – the longevity of the family. In his pedigree, there are many living not only grandfathers, but also great-grandfathers who are 12-16 years old. This indicates excellent health, and let’s hope these numbers are passed down to future generations.
